Itchy skin recently

Not sure if et related as it only seems to happen when I am anxious or thinking about it?

The double whammy itch!

Itching as an MPN symptom gets us anxious which then causes psychogenic itching. Its a real gotcha...

You might find that doing something to take your mind off it helps - go for a walk for example.

In my experience, the worst is when the soles of my feet start itching while I'm driving - purgatory in extremis.

I itched from et and polycythemia —Benadryl and Atarax help, as does keeping in cool temps. Light therapy helped. Jakafi helps a lot.

Hi, I get itchy skin on the underside of my upper arms, which I then scratch and this then causes a nasty rash. I also get itching on my lower legs.Prior to ET diagnosis I also had terrible itching all over after showering. This doesn't happen anymore, which is perhaps down to meds(hydroxycarbamide).

so sorry to hear this but itchy skin seems a shared problem. I wasn't sure if it is related to platelets causing irritation in the vessels?

Certainly our mental and emotional state seems interlinked and crucial to our well being.

If you feel anxious, perhaps try relaxing into the anxiety in a mindfulness way. Do not try to make the feeling go away but just notice how you feel and take each moment carefully There is thought that if we do not fight feelings of high anxiety , we help ourselves cope.

Wonder if there is something you could use to ease irritation calamine lotion to soothe cross skin maybe reacting to adrenaline.

Take care, This forum is so good for reaching out to others and finding good suggestions for tips and advice.

I have ET I don’t have that symptom. It must be awful. I do hope you find a solution. I do think it’s worth telling you nurse or haematologist. Good luck

I have ET too and the itching drives me mad sometimes, mostly on front of lower legs ,sometimes on hips or groin and on wrists. I mentioned to my Haematologist recently and she said it could be related to Hydroxy. I used to have Eumovate for eczema a few years back, so got some from GP and this seems to help a lot. Good luck, Fran x

Try 10 ml liposomal vitamin C three times a day and 10 ml liposomal curcumin three times a day. Always consult with your health care professional before using any supplement.
