Antibody Tests Through Post
Hi Jenny_F, this information on the NHS website might help nhs.uk/conditions/coronavir...
If you are having regular blood tests for your mpn, you can request the antibody test. I saw an article in the Telegraph a couple of months back. I have monthly blood tests and asked the nurse who comes to me. The last time she came she said , I can do the test, it just needs another phial of blood. So I had it done. It came back Negative..
My daughter has also had a letter from Department of Health and Social Care, Imperial College London, NHS. saying she has been selected for a random antibody test. It is done by finger prick. She filled in the online form and had a reply saying she may be sent a package with full instructions within the next few weeks.
Ask you GP.
Best wishes
Judy
Now that's interesting. I had blood tests done a week ago and it didn't occur to me to ask.
I have a venesection booked in early August so will try to remember to ask.
I've got to say I'd rather come back with a positive result - perhaps perversely....

I've been thinking this for while. I have 3 monthly blood test and have GP blood test next week. My wife is on warfarin and has been having weekly tests. Thought why don't they just do an antibody test as you are there any way. Doesn't matter if results take a week or more. How many blood tests are done routinely every day. May be a large portion of the population with antibodies - If only.
Hi Mark,
Mine came back within 24 hours with my other results. Done at my local hospital.

I had mine done at the surgery. Blood test.
I have 2mths bloods and ask last time at surgery and was told that it’s not possible yet and even those at surgery(Doctors nurses) aren’t considered yet. I live in Scotland, so could be different.
I also asked for a Covid19 antibody test while they were doing my FBC at the surgery last month ,they said yes you can have it .I was quite convinced I'd had it in February ,such a bad chest had to have steroids ,an inhaler and antibiotics but it came back negative.
Even though more studies are necessary in this field the current knowledge states that the antibodies disappear in 2-3 months after infection. Receiving a negative test now doesn't necessarily mean that you didn't have Covid19 back in February. To get a more reliable result the best would be to have an antibody test 2-3 weeks after developing symptoms.
In my last visit I asked my doctor to do it for me but she said she wouldn't do because it's not 100% precise, and if it were positive then I would ignore the Covid-19 preventive procedures, although there's a chance it's not positive.
I do a agree with here though.
Cheers,
Malek.
I had my checked during last bloodwork. Received the result the next day.
