Breathlessness. Sorry for late response to you all, unfortunately had to invest in a new tablet. Your comments were much appreciated and its really nice to know that I am not alone in this.

Since last post I have been diagnosed with Macular degeneration, I have spent a few hours researching this and found there could be a link to MPNs. Hospital hemo on July with, I will ask the question, though to be honest the best information is found on this wonderful site. Thank you all so much. Jan.

Hi Charlie, funny thing is that I have just been told that I have high pressure in my eyes, which has caused angle closure, and am going to have to have laser treatment to put a small hole in each eye so that the fluid can be released it’s called a laser peripheral iridotomy, the build up of pressure injures the optic nerve which carries information for the eye to the brain and can damage your vision.

I go for yearly eye tests and it was only up picked a few weeks ago. They have told me that if I left any longer, I could go blind with Glaucoma, bit worried also asked ophthalmologist could it be anything to do with my ET and taking Hydroxycarbamide he seemed to think not, but at the hospital next month to see Haematologist so will ask the question.

All a bit worrying is it not, have they told you if yours is wet or dry? Know that there are a few treatment for both.

Take care

Jean

Hello Jean

Thank you so much for your reply, like you routine eye test picked up my problem, since my last post I have been given an appointment with a consultant at the end of August, it will be interesting to find out if there is a connection to the MPNs, I have ET Jak2 positive, diagnosed 2 years ago through, I take clopodogrel, my consultant will not give me anything else until platelets reach 600, last test was 584, but they are creeping up every time I go, which is 3 monthly checks.

Your eye problems sound alarming, how lucky that it was picked up, its amazing what treatments can be given to rectify problems that a few years ago would sound alien to us.

Please let me know how you get on with everything, eyesight is precious, hopefully everything will turn out ok.

Best wishes

Jan.
