Leg ulcers and Hu. Help?
You'll need to get it checked out by your doctor.
You need to see your GP asap about this. Maz
Hydroxyurea can cause lower leg ulcers and prevent wounds from healing properly. The ankle is a very vulnerable part of the body. My ankle wound appeared suddenly without apparent cause and would not begin to heal until my hematologist saw the wound and took me off HU immediately. Your GP may not make the connection. My wound care specialist did not. I will spare you the gory details.
Leg ulcers are a sign of serious HU toxicity. Can get much worse than just the one sore. This needs immediate attention. Vasculitic ulceration and gangrene can occur. Don't want to scare you, but please take this very seriously. There are other medication options that may be better choice for you. Seek medical attention ASAP.
