This afternoon I'm seeing a Macmillan haematology nurse specialist. My first appointment with her since being diagnosed with prv in July. I don't know what to expect. Is it usual to be transferred from a consultant to her?

First appointment
It was for me!
I saw the Consultant haematologist for the initial diagnosis. After that I was passed onto the Clinical Nurse Specialist, and have seen her every visit for the last two years.
The Macmillan nurses are brilliant. They will reassure you that your cancer is Not like the cancers we hear and know about . They can and will give support in written information or put you on to people who can help. Listen to your worries and concerns no matter how trivial.
While I was being diagnosed, my then haemotoligist tied me in knots and I got in a right state! I contacted Macmillan cancer support at my hospital and the nurse who saw me literally saved my mental bacon. I can't praise her enough, she got me a new haemotoligist and set me back on my feet. 🤗 Carole
