Feeling different

Things haven't been going terribly well of late. My last bloods showed my platelets had increased and I am having a lot more lower back pain. I have had L3 and L4 issues over the last few years but this feels strange. It is like a numb tingling and goes down lower. I am also getting a numb tingling in both feet and up my legs. I am sorry to be non descriptive but is hard to explain.... anyone else get this?

I have had sciatica in the set and this feels very different 😩

Hi Graham, sorry to hear of these new symptoms. You don’t need pain on top of your rising platelets. Please get this checked out as the two may not be related and you may have hurt your back and not realised it - it’s so easy to pinch a nerve or such like and not notice until the symptoms hit! It may be something which is easily sorted. The worse thing is the worry it causes!

Sending you some E hugs and please keep in touch and tell us how you get on. Kindest regards Aime xx😺😺

Hi Graham,

Sorry you are having such a rough time. Aime is right, you need to get this seen to by a doctor as soon as you can, to make sure it is not further problems with your lower spine.

I hope you get it sorted.

All the very best

Really sorry to hear you’re having a tough time right now. Absolutely agree with Aime and Susan. Get your back pain checked out. What you’re experiencing isn’t ‘normal’ and you know your body well. Wishing you all the best. Let us know how you get on.

I echo what everyone else has said Graham, we all know our 'normal' and if this is something new, then yes, it needs checking.

I do hope to hear it's something and nothing and that all is ok for you. X

Hey Graham,

Six weeks ago when I was diagnosed with PV I discovered a quite low Vit D level as well. I have also struggled with bad L4&5 deterioration pain off and on for years. Six weeks prior to my diagnosis the pain was different, unrelenting and scary. It has since subsided greatly. I was told that the D deficiency can cause bone pain.

I hope you get some answers ~ come back and let us know.

Best ~

Yup!! Know this platelets attack well!! Firstly any weaknesses you had prior to ET will be assaulted. Sorry. I have also had spontaneous paralysis and or numbing. It’s bio-physics 101. Too many platelets press nerves and cause symptoms, besides breaking through blood walls. Your hope is to drop platelets counts and or these cluster f...Ks will redistribute and move in a more fluid way. Your hope lays in my experience that I no longer have paralytic episodes. I also broke my back and of course when platelets pressure those vertebrae the pain factor goes up. Get your count down as fast as you can before organ damage is done. Just know that ET caused hypothyroidism for a year and a half then vanished. It caused gastrointestinal bleeds and anemia then vanished but not before two transfusions were needed. My platelets are around 500 and these problems are gone!! Also remember that your brain has these bastards pressing out and will cause emotional stuff so store that in mind as to not feel defeated or depressed, etc.

ET is pernicious. It is CANCER and it is trying to kill you any way it can. Knowing this you can fight back but be sure to list (or however you compile) your raison d’etre. Your reasons for living, that’s your edge in having a fair fight!! Because it is a fight!! G-d love you and I send blessings comrade!!!!
