Has anyone done any research into how an imbalance of electrolytes may affect us ?

Unbalance electrolytes are bad and dangerous for everyone not just MPN. They need urgent attention. Which of your electrolytes are unbalanced?

Well this is the thing ! How do you know if they are ? I did have an episode of severe atrial fibrillation and was taken to A and E , the dr said it may have been “electrolytes” but no dr has mentioned it since and I have had no further episodes. Was wondering how to protect myself from recurrence. I think it could have been related to medication I was taking to help me go to the toilet, which I no longer take.. Sorry that was long winded !

Hi Juliet. There is no way of telling about our electrolytes, except with a blood test. Our bodies take care of keeping these stable. What water does as the last writer noted, effects your sodium. Your Potassium may have been altered to bring on the AF, or you may have any underlying heart disorders. Being unwell can change these values in any illness. Your GP could order some bloods to set your mind at ease. Otherwise just eat, sleep, and exercise and take good care of yourself. Kind regards Lyn

Why they were concerned is perhaps that you experienced some heart beat challenges.

Dehydration is the most likely culprit unless your your condition was a factor?

As they have not referred you to a specialist just ensure you keep well hydrated especially if you have a sweaty do or are on antibiotics, or other medication such that is used for diabetics.

Headaches and dry skin can be an indicator your body is thirsty.

Hope this helps. If you are concerned mention your concerns at the next appointment.

Thankyou for replying ! I’ve read something that says you must get the hydration just right , too much water and all the other electrolytes get flushed away , so how much is too much .??!!
