Hello Chrissie I too had night cramps don't know if they are connected to my PV but my doctor put me on Ropinirol each night and has so far worked. Obviously we are all different but having another idea is a help. best of luck.

Hi Chrissie, I really sympathise. I also suffer with terrible night cramps in my shins and thighs! It really is the most debilitating pain. The only thing that stops mine is taking quinine sulphate, which my GP prescribed about 18 months ago. I come off them every three months or so, as it is yet another medication I don't want to be taking, but they start again immediately and I end up taking them again. I hope your GP can help. I would be interested to know if they prescribe anything different. Good luck.

Hi Chrissie I too have ze crampings which are darn soore. . . I am prescribed Allopurinol but for gout which usually affects my toe joints as it counteracts uric acid, Im unsure if it has any effect on my crampings so twil be interesting to find out. . The best remedy I found is my wife massaging my legs for an hour or so - worth faking it for. . Hmm naughty me. Cheers JR

Hi Chrissie. Sorry to hear of your night cramps, I , in recent years have suffered with restless legs as soon as I got into bed it would start making sleep difficult. Then I read about Magnesium so got some tablets and I must say it has done the trick, do Google it and read the effects of too little Magnesium it's really quite interesting how it can affect our bodies, my partner was precribed quinine for cramps but it messed up his platelet levels, he does not have an MPN. So was taken off them. I have suggested he takes Magnesium also. As with anything do check it out for yourself. But also check with GP or pharmacist . Hope you find some relief soon.

Best wishes Sandy

No problem hope it helps. After I responded to you I again googled Magnesium and it is apparently great for cramp. There are different types so reasearch it the key.

Good luck Sandy

Hi I too take Magnesium and it works very well for me. I was advised to use Magnesium Citrate and at a high potency. We are all different though so good luck with whatever you choose.

All the best Malaika

Hi Chrissie afraid I don't have any useful suggestions like the other replies. But sorry to hear you are suffering with these horrible cramps. I hope the mess the GP have given you help. Let us know how you get on and I hope you get some relief soon. Know what it's like when you cant't get a decent nights sleep. Take Care Liz C xx

Oral magnesium, magnesium oil for topical use; and, don't laugh - dill pickle juice. Stay hydrated!
