Hello,

Not sure what relevance it has to your profession there, but I might just not realise something...?

Hi Reflex - not quite the same but I'm a C1 with pv and no problems encountered. However, check this link out and see if you can find anything......the nearest I got was 'cancer' but with their advisory conditions it's unlikely the DVLA need to be advised.

Hi KevinJH, Thank you for the link. Yes I see that cancer is on there and that it say's "bus, coach or lorry license you must tell DVLA"

My other half was diagnosed with E.T. just over a month ago, being treated with hydroxyurea, he is a C1+E driver so sounds like he should let them know. I can't see it making any difference to his licence, but better to cover himself.

Thanks once again for taking the time to reply, very much appreciated.

Hello Reflex. I have PV and a heavy rigid licence with public passenger endorsement. I know interpretations of regulations are probably different here in Australia but it seems that whenever I loose control of the disease simply I notify my employer. At the last annual health review of my licence the licencing authority put me thru the third degree, but I was still able to retain my licence with conditions. I had a pair of TIAs 15 months ago and was put of the road for 3 months. Now I have to demonstrate with monthly blood results that my platelets are below 600. I am fortunate in that my employer has been willing and able to offer alternate duties whenever I have had to go off the road. Never the less I susspect I will retire a few years early because of the progression of the disease. I hope this is of some use. Regards Hackett
