I too have suffered for 12 years now and totally understand your desperation. I take Lithium daily as a preventative, which really helps. Mine became chronic, daily, so I was desperately seeking some help. They still breakthrough every 18 months or so but a month long course of steroids usually blocks them while the Lithium has time to kick in. Oxygen through a re-breathable mask - the one with a bag attached-is invaluable at the start of an attack-I wonder if you have tried any of these?

Also, I find Magnesium helps-apparently we sufferers lack magnesium, so it's worth a try. I hope I have been some help, I know how you must feel but hopefully these remedies will work for you x

I personally have tried everything just about to start on the sumitriptan and oxygen so fingers crossed, pitzotifen made mine alot worse though but im guessing everyone is different x

Hi, I'm so sorry to hear about your attacks...these things are just cruel, I hate them...I was on pizotiphen for about 18 months...it did work for a while, then I started getting weird visual disturbances and I slept a lot...I moved then onto beta blockers, propanalol which whilst they didn't stop the attacks, reduced their severity, frequency and length of attack...and I have a fantastic heart beat.....I really hope yours get better, take care

Sorry..just thought I would mention that the visual disturbances I mentioned were not the aura I normally get, but something different altogether..
