I have been told by a very reliable nurse that melon is a very good remedy for migraine?

I suspect eating healthily is a good idea in general, however I tend to ignore advice like that ie "X is a great migraine remedy!" as everyone's migraine is so different, melon might help some people but might be a trigger for someone else. try it and see

I think Georgie has got it in one there! It's hydrating and has some sugar which could help some people at certain times, but not one we have heard before and certainly not one with any scientific backing. The best approach is to address the standard triggers; have a regular sleep pattern, drink plenty of water, regular meals and being aware of anything that particularly sets you, the individual off! A visit to National Migraine Centre might be worth trying too....

I have not spoken to the nurse who gave me the information as I think he is away on holiday at the moment, but I will hopefully speak to him shortly. As regards eating the melon, it is worth a try in conjunction with what you are saying. I appreciate it might not help all sufferers but it might help some. A quick question, where is the National Migraine Centre located? Thank you for your reply. Speak to you soon hopefully, rangers123

What I did not have time to say is that the information I had from the reliable nurse was that the melon must be taken for the minimum of a fortnight from the minute the migraine attack starts. How much melon he did not say but I will do my best to find out. The nurse told me that all this was given to him by an old (I think ,Jewish) Doctor who was in the second world war and treated sufferers with migraine. (i will pop up and see the nurse who lives not far from me and see if he can tell me anymore.) So far one lady has tried this for me, ( she suffered with 4 day migraine) and was a lovely person and her son texted me to say that his Mum was up and about after 1 day and had gone shopping " brilliant ,I can not thank you enough" he said, so I am convinced it does work. please come back to me on this,I will try and get any more information I can.Speak to you soon Rangers 123
