He's been treating me for ten years. He succeeded Peter Goadsby, the world authority on migraine who's moved the USA. He's probably seen more people with chronic headache than any other specialist in England.

thank you both. Neuro talking about it as next step (constant headache for a year now) but I have been holding out as i didn't get on with any preventives / procedures and am a bit reluctant to go down that road again.

But obviously I may have no choice!

Do you see him on NHS or privately?

You do have a choice , you can ask to be referred to dr mathura by your gp it's your right . It just depends how long his waiting list is . I would try

I have been diagnosed with Hemicrania Continua, I had never heard of it but, but it matches exactly what I have been on about all these years. I have also heard about this Dr., so am really interested in this thread xx given indomethacin but can't tolerate it.

I'm having Botox , plus DBS he treats me for SUNCT ,Hemaplegic migraine , clonic daily migraine . I'm on a trile for the DBS MR Zerenzo who is the surgeon

You've lost me. I don't know what DBS is (as opposed to IBS!) or SUNCT.

Sorry DBS is a deep brain stimulator they put electrodes in a certain area of your brain then they feed the wire out to a thicker wire which goes down the side of your neck and into a battery pack in your chest and they can turn on the electrodes and tune them to different levels . You can look it up they do it with Parkinson's patients . And SUNCT is short for short lasting unilateral neural gyro head ache. . I'm just so used to doing abbreviated veretion of things sorry .

Just came across your message.. so sad for your grandaughter, I am so sorry... I presume someone has checked she doesn't have postural orthostatic tachycardia (see Pots UK website) as that led to my daughter's headaches, and the other thing to consider is Chiari malformation. Probably no help to you but thought i should mention just in case...

I created an account just to be able to reply to you and maybe help your granddaughter. I have MCAS and chronic daily migraine and Dr Matharu is one of my consultants. Tried many treatments (botox, nerve block, infusions etc.) and the best thing for the migraines so far has been a book recommned by Dr M called 'mindfulness for health'. It is a pain management therapy called MBPM. It doesn't cure you but it helps to improve chronic pain conditions and has worked miracles for me. I still have a migraine every day but the pain is 50% improved, which is fantastic. Its not some hoodoo quackery, it is all science based, look into it! Wishing you and your grandaughter good health :)
