- ive spent the last 8 months building up my levels to 100mg of amatriplytine & 100mg of topamax in the hope of getting rid of this migraine ...no joy.
It has eased the number of random muscle spasm pains and screw driver headaches i get but not the constant dull 1" back frontal forehead.
- I have tried so far strong pain meds/ beta blockers/ reflexology/ chiropractor/ physios/ yoga/ acupuncturists.
- im gluten and dairy free
- i hadn't had a migraine in about 10 years and the used to start differently...start out like a tension headache...shooting pain up back of ear...needle through back of eye...this one was put down initially to a very bad headache for wks due to a very stressful time in my life...
The consultant spoke before about optical nerve injection blocs? are these worth it...any side effects...are they expensive?
Is there anything else i haven't tried?
I want to be prepared next week walking in...my monies are running short and i need to find a solution....
Also im based in ireland....any help appreciated...im 34 & worn out...sadcase really!!

I hear you and feel for you. Have you ever tried cold laser treatment, not sure of the cost I've heard good things. I do Botox and many prescription pills, like you I feel I've exhausted almost everything I can find. I have found osteopathy helping a bit, she is working on releasing pressure in my body or something like that. I am just starting the laser treatment and hope it helps
A number of our patients have found Occipital Nerve Block injections useful. We provide two procedures here at the clinic as based on research they are the most effective for treating chronic migraine (the other being Botox). Nerve Blocks are the far less expensive of the two. It is worth trying as the side effects are likely to be far less than any medication. Don't forget you can always come to see one of our specialists! Good luck.
hey...thanks for the feedback...the dr did the optical nerve block...he said to allow 10-15 days to see if it worked...im on day 13...no joy...if anything it brought my constant dull frontal headache further back into my head and brought on more spasms...or maybe this was just cause i had myself a little more stressed at paying out so much and no relief
i asked the dr about the laser therapy/osteopath and cranial sacral therapy which had been recommended by a friend...but like the magnesium supplements/alkaline diet i tried...he things its best till i get shot of this migraine/eliminate and then start preventative....
and i was so convinced him sticking a needle in my head would relieve some pressure ...never mind what he was injecting in
