I take 60mg daily. It makes a difference for me. I only take it a few months out of the year when I suffer more.

I was prescribed it as toprimate, which I have been on for a number of years was not giving much relief, but unfortunately within a short amount of I had to stop taking it as the side effects were were not good.

It might be successful for yourself, try it under the guidance of your doctor.

I am currently being assessed and looked at for BOTOX as I unfortunately seem to have no tolerance to alot of the preventative medications for migraines. This I have been told by my professor I am under can be the norm in my situation. Like I said toprimate was working fine, initially took it no problems, then had a second bout of meningitis (first 2014, second 2017), the dosage was increased to it's maximum but the last year the frequency of the migraines has increased again. I get on average 3 bad migraine episodes a week though, hence why I am now being put forward as a suitable candidate for BOTOX perhaps.

Hi, My daughter was started on it about a month ago and knock wood it seems to be helping!

Or is it the Vitamin B2, Vitamin D (her level was low), melatonin, regular exercise, no caffeine she started about 2 months ago?? Not sure but she'll just continue to take it all :) I really hope it helps you!

Hi Gemma, I have about 3 migraines a week which start early morning on left side of my head above eye. A preventative was thought to be a good Idea So I tried it for a few months but was very sensitive to side- effects. It was a shame as migraines were far fewer but I felt completely emotionless, had no libido and felt a bit depressed. Apparently if you suffer from low mood this group of tabs can have that effect. I’ve now been prescribed 2mg of canderstartan, low blood pressure pills, as a preventative ( haven’t got high blood pressure) and it’s reduced my headaches to maybe 1 or none per week. I hope propanol works for you - if not don’t give up hope but try and do an exclusion test and only try one medical option at a time.

Hi Gemma, I found it made my migraines worse, and made me feel really unwell, so went back to GP and stopped it. I was lucky and was eventually supported thru a migraine prevention plan. Best thing ever. Now mostly really well, unless I go off plan. Previosly really poorly. Take care, Kate.
