Neck and spine steroid injections to help with severe migraine pain.

hi

I have chronic fatigue syndrome and severe chronic migraine and have tried all treatments to relieve migraine.

I was getting some relief from medicinal cannabis but that seems to have stopped.

My pain consultant wants to give me steroid injections in the neck and spine and thinks that this will alleviate my migraines.

I am very nervous about having this done but I’m desperate as have been through all medications including Aimovig that has totally messed me up.

Please let me Know If you have had or aware of anyone who has had these injections and whether they have helped or caused other issues

Many thanks

Yes, I had injections in my neck when I was pregnant, they worked wonderfully.

Just curious, research shows high doses of magnisum help a lot.

I was in the same boat suffering until I started magnesium glycinate (3x a day)and feverfew( 2x a day). This was what worked for me.

I also learned to treat every pain until it is gone. Most of the time I can do that, even if it means I give myself an injection of Imitrix to solve it. Or head to the Emergency room. I do not allow them to go on long.

I hope you find what works for you.

Take care,

Hello. I've had the injections and it worked for about 48 hours. Sorry but it could be different for you. From what I understand I got relief from the pain killer they inject at the same time as the cortisone and it wore off after about 48 hours. I even had the feeling that things went worse after that but it may be just subjective. Hopefully it will work for you. A physio has told me that it is the active trigger points I have in my neck and my head that are triggering migraines. You can get injections for that and it is not so harsh on the body. However, for some reasons doctors want first to go the 'hard' way. I'm still on the waiting list for the trigger points injection. Hopefully it will work for you!
