Optician Hell

So it's taken me years since my meningitis to get the courage to go to the optician. As it began I tried to warn them I had 'issues'. They just carried on with their script. During the test I had to look at images. In one eye these images were moving and jiggling around. This is one of the reasons I came here. They didnt want to know. Also when looking at particular images I was seeing shadows. Again they did not wish to know. When I was asked to look up whilst a light was shone in side of my eye I began to cry. They asked if it was painful. I said it was intolerable. I was looking up at a dimmed out spotlight and Ray's extended down from the light. This is another problem I have. Finally they said there were no worries and I left. This was at 10am this morning. I have been laid in a darkened room ever since and its .515 PM.I've cried my eyes out a number of times. I've been sick twice and I am experiencing double vision with the letters on this phone screen using the dimmest setting. I had a huge bubble float across my vision a couple of weeks ago and I have watched a tiny light in my smoke detector split up and jiggle about. I called my Dr. They dont do eyes anymore. This takes me back to waking up in intensive care 4 years ago and asking the nurse if there was a bubble machine in the room. I will never go to the opticians again.

Emerald8888 an optician is a technician who fits one for glasses, contacts. You need to see an ophthalmologist as they deal with health issues of the eyes. I am 6 yrs post encephalomenigitis & I am photosensitive. When I first went for new contacts the light & eye exams threw me into a seizure. Ophthalmologist will know how to avoid or make your examine more tolerable. Hope this helps.

If Doctors actually listened or seen people I could've been referred to the Eye Clinic at the hospital but apparently they don't do eyes. They don't do ears either. It was an ear infection that led to my meningitis. I constantly have problems and sensitivities there too but no one to go to.
