Is it right that I'm so tired after doing anything? I've lost a bit of hearing in my left ear, my vision has returned back to normal after having myopia and generally feeling yuck.

Yes, it will take time to get better. I’m 2.5 years out from bacterial meningitis and I still get tired. I’m much better than at the release from the hospital but I do not have the energy I use to have before the meningitis.

Are you struggling to understand speech with your hearing loss? I know hearing loss in itself is difficult to adjust to. You may not realize that you are more focused on people and lip reading more to understand. It takes a toll. Meningitis took my hearing and it’s a hard transition. Did the say if the hearing loss is permanent? Perhaps a hearing aid would help?

Thank you for replying. I'm a nurse and often in theatres we have to wear face masks. I would definitely struggle with speech and hearing others. At the moment I'm asking people to repeat themselves. I go to see an ENT doctor in February. My neurologist has said that the hearing will most probably be damaged permanently but vision would return which it has. I go back to work at the end of January, but MY MEMORY is shocking. My skills are still intact and when I try to say things it takes a while for the words to come out.

Well...I got re admitted on Jan 19th and am still in hospital. Got moved to the Royal in Liverpool city centre yesterday having spent two weeks in Whiston. LP and all scans have come back okay. Due to habe another LP tomorrow and a detailed MRI to detect air bubbles in the brain. I'm sick and tired of being a patient. And IV paracetamol and codiene are helping with my head ache. God knows how long it's going ro take me to get over this. My left ear is really bad at the moment but the photophobia is improving.
