Was wondering

Hi my name is Thomas and I’m 59 Years old. I had bacterial meningitis when I was less then 2 Years old and have been wondering if that had anything to do with the way my health has been basically all my life.. I have been on antidepressants since I was in my early 20’s and the reason I started them so many years ago was the reason I’m looking for answers today!!!! I have always remembered when I was in school it was very hard remembering things, concentrating on homework getting terrible grades and struggling with these problems my whole life... That in turn me to go on medication cause I felt worthless, no self-esteem , no friends, lazy, not wanting to go to grade school and high school, Not wanting to leave the house, and difficulties holding down a job for so long.... I have been wondering all my life if BM had something to do with this???? Thanks for any help

Hi Thomas, I had BM about 10 years ago, I'm 54. Speaking from personal experience, I can relate to tiredness and concentration, maybe the tiredness element could make it seem like I'm sometimes lazy!

It's tricky though, everyone has different experiences with it, some better, some worse. Some people have very acute symptoms and have recovered well, others seemed to have had mild symptoms and have faired worse.

I'm not medically trained, but my experience of BM and hearing what other people have also said all the issues you mention are familiar to me when thinking of BM.

Not sure that helps, but there are a lot of people dealing with after effects of BM, including myself...
