Hello, for some reason I thought since I did not have bacterial meningitis that I would heal faster. I own 2 businesses and travel to Ghana, Africa with teams of people every year. I am frustrated because I don't have time for this as I am sure no one does. The light of my week is to attend my 15 year old volleyball game. I went to her game 1 week after leaving hospital and I about died as I walked in to the gym. Nobody ever warned me about sensory issues. Thank god my husband had ear plugs in his car. After reading about some of your stories and not healing for months I am just laying here crying in shock. I thought this would pass in 2 weeks or so. It happened so fast to me that I did not have time to research meningitis. I was misdiagnosed the day prior to being admitted with a migraine after I told the doctor there was no way it was a migraine. The next day I went back to ER and a different doctor was shocked they sent me home the night before. I crashed and I crashed hard. I am wondering if there is anyone out there that healed faster than 3 - 7 months.

Thank you,

Leah

How fast you heal depends on many things I guess. There are people who have just had symptoms of a bad headache, and have been fine after a few weeks. Some, it takes months, or years to improve. In my own case I'd say it was 12 months before I was feeling a lot better, however, life does go on and I wasn't gravely ill for all those 12 months. My improvement was slow and steady. I made sure I gave myself time to recover. It wasn't like I was out of hospital and carried on as normal.

Unfortunately it's not something you can't rush, I had a headache afterwards for about 3 months and still suffer fatigue, although it's manageable.

My illness was back in 2008 and I'm able to look back and put it in perspective. Rather than dwell on the fact of how unlucky I was to get meningoencephalitis I am thankful I survived and thankful I can still spell it. With any trials I have in life - if I'm worried or stressed about anything, I take a step back and think "I survived a serious illness, this problem is nothing" - well, most of the time anyway :-)

Don't be too hard on yourself, whichever way you look at it - it's a serious illness, an illness that people die from, or have ongoing issues for the rest of their life. Be positive and rest.

Thanks,

Graham

Hello, please have a look at my daughter's story, Rosie S story on the site. She had cranial massage which worked wonders, and she's pretty much 100% well again

......She suffered for near on two years before discovering meningitis now, subsequently trying cranial massage by visiting an independant cranial osteopath in her area.

All the symptoms you are experiencing are pretty much similar to what she suffered. It seems the key, and recent breakthrough, is releasing the spinal fluid which VM leaves a blockage for...and enabling it to flow again through your body, particularly your head.

There are some on this sight who have now given it a go after reading about it, and after just a couple of sessions, felt considerable relief.

I the last few days Rosie and I have been contacted by the media, news papers and radio to tell our story of this potential breakthrough!

We now feel we want to help as many poor people who have suffered this dreadful illness for which before now seemed there was no light at the end of the tunnel.

Good luck and please keep posed how you get on if you try this amazing treatment. Rosie coupled this with acupuncture, having alternate treatments once a week, now a couple of months in. Xx
