Horrible MENINGITUS

hi, I'm nannamagic, I have many illnesses, but lately have had pneumococcal MENINGITUS, and have been kept with a few things I would rather not have, one is, so much heat in my body I feel like I'm gonna faint, comes on quickly and is vicious, anyone else had this ir any suggestions please, it's so bad, it wipes me out physically,

What a lovely photo of you!

So sorry to hear that additional to many other illnesses that you recently had the very nasty pneumococcal Meningitis. The problem you describe with your body regulating (or not!) your body heat is not uncommon and I suffered that as well. Likewise I would get hot flushes and my neck and face would go very red and I would be taking any clothing off that I could. At night I would end up very damp with sweat as would the bedding, yet if I laid on top of the bedding the sweat would then make me shiver with cold! It was just like going through a severe menopause all over again! I think bacterial meningitis does mess with your endocrine system and temperature control and it takes time to settle. I don't have that problem of hot flushes anymore but I still do tend to feel more warm than I used to in cooler situations.

Would be interested to hear more about what happened to you when you contracted Meningitis and how long you were in hospital.

Thank you for replying to me, that foto was when I was 59 yrs old, I don't wear face name up only eyes and lips, that's natural suntan, lol, I'm 61 on Thursday 18th, anyway, I have a friend, who used to be my partner, she stayed overnight with ne as age said I didn't seem right, she went to bed, as I did eventually, but don't remember anything, she said that I had woken her to take me to the toilet, ( and believe ne, I'm one strong stubborn girl), would never ask that of anyone normally, but she said I was shaking uncontrollably, so she got my walking sticks to help ne as well, she even had to wipe my front buts for me as I couldn't co,ordinate to do it myself, I then put my sleep apnea mask back on myself, when she came in to wake me in the morn, 15 minutes earlier than normal, I was already unconscious, it was fate she woke me early, I gad taken my mask off, and there was no response whatsoever from me, now she ain't got a clue medically to do anything, but my god she kept me alive that mien till the paramedics got there, my lifeline coordinator put her onto medics and they told her how to do CPR thank god they did, anyway, I died twice, and they said they would let me go if I went a 3 rd time, because I was already so I'll, they had seen my pres by then, but fortunately my ex husband was there as well,and he said, for god sake, she drove home from our daughters last night, well from that moment on, they fought fir he like hell, I was in a coma fir 7 days, when I woke up I had gone back 21 yrs, I was shouting for my hubby, didn't know my daughter or my GRANDAUGHTERS, didn't know my friend ann, but eventually I came back almost completely, my 3 girls are my life, and when I didn't know them my daughter suzie thought I had been left with brain damage, but touch wood, I didn't, thus was only in the middle of January thus year, I was in Hosp for 5 weeks, came out in the middle of February, there's a lot more to this, but can't concentrate to write it, I'm deleting and re writing all the time, lol, all the docs called me their champion patient, I'm waiting now to have a very nasty sinus op, having my pre ass on Monday, oh sorry, it was my sinus infection that caused all this, it travelled to my brain, and the only symptom I had that something was wrong was that I was shivering uncontrollably, but I,ll bloody well know if there's a next time, but I thank you for your input, as it shows I'm not alone, how long has it been for you, I should have been in Spain now, but wasn't allowed to fly, but I'm here, that's the main thing, x
