I have severe quad spastic cerebral palsy, I am a wheelchair user and use an AAC device to communicate. I don’t have learning difficulties, more so issues with movement and speech.
I have recently moved to Bristol and I am very isolated, I would like to get out of the house, maybe a group, or in the community.
Is Mencap just for people with learning difficulties?
Would I be classed as LD because of my difficulties with speech and movement? It takes me a long time to communicate and a lot of effort!
what sort of things do mencap groups do?
do they cater for severe physical disabilities too?
I feel so alone, I need to try and build up a social lfe.

Hi Emilia85 , thanks for your message. Although Mencap is set up to support people with a learning disability, I know that our network partners - local groups who are independent organisations - will sometimes support a wider range of people.
Because network partners are independent, you would need to get in touch with them directly to see if they had any opportunities that might be what you are looking for.
