Is your Local Authority wasting funds on none delivery of services

Hey ,

Has anyone got insight into how the funds are being used to pay for care via care companies.

Does the LA have a handle on the spending of personal care budgets ?

247 care is required and the family are doing the majority of the care - All unpaid stepping in when the care team are unable to work or While a new placement is being found and they are home.

Eg 120 hours used per week from a pot of 168 - leaving - 48 un-used so realistically are they being paid 168 ? but not delivering these services & care.

What is the government doing to stop /reduce the over-spend on services not delivered, this could save money if it was managed correctly.

Do care companies send the LA time sheets showing hours delivered ? Anyone got a handle on this ? or does the LA take it on blind faith and keep paying regardless ??

Families using direct payments are tightly managed and checked regularly ? What about care providers ?

Has anyone on here been advised what your son/daughters personal care budget is ? If so how did you find out?

Please share useful info on this topic.

Thanks

Great question, I believe most not all care companies are just pocketing anything not used. This is due to my own experience of present care company. I don’t trust them at all. Good luck in trying to get any info, let’s hope someone has experience.

I’m still trying to access the account my son and his housemate share in regards to bills. Neither of them have capacity. An account was set up not in their names but the address of the property and the service providers. My son and his housemate pay an amount each month by direct debit, and bills are paid via direct debit via this account. No rules regarding this were ever discussed when it was first set up. I was eventually told after asking many times that it’s against the law to give me info regarding this issue due to data protection, but their happy to ask for more money when they want. I understand data protection but I’m struggling to accept this as no one in the service monitors them!!!! Any suggestions

We need to wager a war on these care companies basically stealing our families money 💰

A while back my daughter lived in a shared supported living house, the bill's should be in the name of the service user - not the care team. All parties need to see the bills for the property how else can you manage the affairs ! Ludicrous. Due to capacity issues you can demand you see the bills you are after all appointed to deal with finances .. They use to withhold information from us , get the other family on side and involve the social worker ... they have to been seen being impartial, keep going higher and higher. It is totally corrupt.

Thanks for that, I don’t think the social worker is much use though. I will keep pushing, it’s like a red rag!!
