I was looking at the NHS page on who is eligible for a booster and there is no mention of people with LDs - only those with Downs syndrome. here's the link nhs.uk/conditions/coronavir...
in that you can follow a link to see who is considered high risk - again no LDs.
On the mencap page they state that people with LD will be offered a booster. I hope mencap are right.. ours are not due yet... but if they are - people with learning disabilities and their carers are yet again not being given the right information.. which will result in people not applying for a booster as it doesn't say they are eligible.
It just feels like this group of people are being picked on constantly, and no wonder the stats are so terrible.

Get your son or daughter registered at your GP surgery as having a learning disability and then ask them for the booster but it has to be 6 months gap from the second one.
he is already on the register. As I said in my post, we are not due for the booster yet. I am trying to prepare him, but it is a bit tricky to do so when it isn't clear if he will be offered one.
well that's good news, and encouraging too. But... as I said wouldn't it be better if the NHS website and the gov website actually stated it. It will result in people not going for it if they dont see LD listed as a reason.
HelloI am sorry to read your worries. Mencap obviously show but not continue customer advice at the moment. Mencap services helpline will obviously help but you need to ask your Doctor, Health worker or local authority about this. Where did you get your last Jab? Ring them? or Email? Myself and my Partner had problems with our first jab and it took a few enquiries through health authorities etc to sort it out. YOU would think though that there is one official helpline for this for hey.. NOT... Good Luck
thanks - my point really was the government are doing a disservice to the LD community.. yet again.. by not specifically listing them as eligible for the booster on the NHS pages.. My son is not due his jab yet, so we shall see. Hopefully he will be called up without an issue. Our local Drs make it clear on their website that they have no control over who gets the jabs, and wont be taking any calls on the subject - which I think is entirely understandable - so I wont be going that route. Mencap state on their website that people with LDs are eligible, and I think would be making a huge fuss by now if they were not - also encouraging. But it shouldnt be down to a charity to reassure people.. the government ought to get it right on their information websites.
Thanks for your reply and completely understand. Government.....yeah right. I suppose no one knows the right or wrong answer. My Son being a Police Officer comes across this everyday and the unrelated anger within our society.
