post 17 support North East England enquiry - Mencap
hi EllasParents, im similar to your daughter except now 37-im classic autistic and have mild learning disability.
there are a number of colleges that are residential but they usualy take on day cases as well and you can pay private or get funding if you live in the same borough as i used to go to the david lewis centre which is an entire specialist college/community for people with autism plus learning disability plus epilepsy,id still be going now if i hadnt been moved to far away.
the david lewis centre (which woudnt exist without john lewis funding it as an epilepsy specialist college when he was alive,a fact most people dont get to know ) has post 25 services also and i woud have instantly recomended it to you and ella if it wasnt for cheshire being to far from you.
there are similar specialist colleges for different disabilities all over the north and north east, ive seen them advertise at manchesters autism show in the past- ill have a look for you now, woud your daughter prefer the enviroment of a mainstream college?-if thiswas the case, you can look at any local FE college, and either contact the disability department or use their search for terms like 'ASDAN' ,'towards independance' and 'entry level'- these are all terms relating to the same thing, courses designed for learning disabled people, for example ASDANs towards independance course, ive done this several times with 2-1 support and it can be adapted for any needs right up to students with PMLD.
ill have a look now to find the list of specialist colleges.

ive foudn the list on natspec, theres quite a few north east specialist colleges to click on, and they all have day services:
Your social worker should be able to assist you she will need an assessment to see what her needs are and what they can offer. Make sure you check on the cqc website and look at the reports and I would strongly advise you get your deputyship sorted out for property and finances and health and well-being because once they turn 18 everything changes. Check out the gov.uk website. There’s supported living places as well and you may find that’s more what your looking for. Good luck with your search and try and stay local so you can visit and your daughter can also come home to visit if that’s something you would all like to do.
Hi My name is Karen and I volunteer for Mencap. We are an amazing support network which I am sure would benefit you. Each day with a main supervisor, volunteers like myself and a helper work together. We sort out donations, stock shelves, serve customers etc. Its an amazing calm atmosphere and we have become long life friends. Ella would I am sure fit in well with a family like this. She does not have to adhere to anything she does not want to..... even cleaning the shelves. Even just sitting back and watching what we do and joining in the fun. Anyway, much love. XXXX
