Understanding our internal body to achieve Toileting success!

Does your child or young person understand the “internal” messages within the body of needing a poo or a wee?

Does your child or young person understand “what” the toilet is for?

Can they “link” the internal messages of needing a poo or a wee, with, using the toilet?

Would you like to know “HOW” to help your child or young person understand the need for a wee or a poo “and” be successful with using the toilet?

One of the ways of helping your child or young person is to develop their understanding of Toileting, is to explore your individuals sensory needs. Interoception is often known as the “hidden sense” and is referred to as the eighth sensory system. It is the sense that tells us what is happening inside our bodies.

To help your child or young person to develop their body awareness and teach them to start tuning in to what their body feels like when it balanced, Yoga can be introduced. Yoga – focuses on listening to your body and providing good proprioceptive (balance) and vestibular (movement) input and encourages an individual to look internally and focus on how the body and mind is feeling.
