I live in Hillingdon in NW London. I want my son to have supported living with peers of a similar age. How can I find like minded parents and carers ?
Supported living : I live in Hillingdon in NW London... - Mencap
Supported living
My son is in supported living, we usually take him cooked home food for 3 days and give shopping money for the rest of the days
Speak to social services they have an L.D. Team of social workers, and the Mencap helpline start there and see how it goes first.
Hi my son is on supported living he’s own home in Hillingdon actually, anyway not really sure about your question??? You mean you want him to live with people like him and same age? Not sure also about your question about like minded parents and carers. Can you elaborate a bit?
Hi Evie, we are also in a similar position and want our son to live with peers who enjoy the same sort of things. We have a house which we plan to adapt and then offer to 4 young people. Have you had any success in finding somewhere for your son?
Hi there. If you are going to provide accommodation to young people you will need to either register as a care home or special supported housing depending on the circumstances of the young people, the services you are providing and how you want the rent to be paid. You could become a private landlord as well but again you need to be clear what services you are providing to the young people. My son is now in supported living with Golden Lane housing.
