yes i totally second what everyone said in the video, they help so many things.
unfortunatly the learning disability nurses in my CLDT only come out to us now if we are at the stage of beign sectioned into learning disability hospitals, otherwise its left to the other specialists in the team.
i did have a certain, very experienced learning disability nurse for a very long time from around 18 to 30,i knew her really well, she woud come just for visits sometimes but she did things like speak to the GP about my epilepsy and its affects on me,my needs and difficulties, and capacity issues, plus about behavior that challenges, got my diazepam increased to PRN 10mg a day for severe behavior that challenges and increased further for days around special ocasions like christmas, bonfire season, got the learning disability nurse at the hospital to bring equipment to my home so i coud be desensitised to it before coming into hospital for dental treatment-she also got photos of the route i woud be taking, the people i woud see etc.
and when i was placed on a section 3 in a learning disability hospital, the LD nurses came and visited me every day for a while until i was settled in-even though the hospital was miles away, even my consultant pysch from the same team did.
ive just thought,if today is nurses day,why didnt they move yesterdays brit awards to today, given that most of the 02 arena tickets were gave to nurses and other frontline staff?
woud have made more sense to make a concert in their name be on their special rememberence day.
