hi, im looking for advice on what to expect, and where to look for what a child who is turning 18 is entitled to when moving to adult services. I have been unsuccessful in getting him into residential care so he has to remain at home which is a struggle
thanks in advance

Wow where do I start I would strongly advice if your loved one lacks capacity to consider becoming their deputy. It’s expensive through a solicitor but you can do it online through the government website the forms are a bit daunting but they’re are well worth doing and I’ve found them invaluable. That’s of course if your child needs to be living in care I don’t know what your situation is so this is a big question your asking with so many different paths. Can you be more specific in the questions so we can be more help to you. You will feel a bit like you fallen off a cliff and a lot of the services fall away but we’ve all been there. Where all here to help and support so ask away and if we don’t know the Mencap helpline maybe able to help you. Best Wishes
