Hi

My sister is living with my parents and quickly running out of things to do.

I’ve seen that Mencap are doing a fitness class via zoom but I wondered whether there were any other activities going on via Zoom for people with learning disabilities that she could get involved with that anyone knows about?

Thanks

Hi, I work for a charity in kent called The Fifth Trust fifthtrust.co.uk/. Since the first lockdown we have been offering online sessions at least twice a day. At present we are closed to onsite activities and are offering 4 sessions a day covering a range of activities from art and crafts to fitness and music sessions. I am sure that centres local to you may be offering similar provisions, a quick online search may help you find one suitable. However we are open to anyone during this period and our provision is free. If you would like more information on joining please email info@fifthtrust.co.uk.

Hi Dalfie2020. As FT2021 has said, some service providers are running online activity sessions so it might be worth looking into these. In Herefordshire Aspire Living and ECHO have online sessions with a variety of things - you would need to check with them if you can access them from out of county, but Aspire has centres across the country so I would imagine this should be possible. There are also some good YouTube workouts - dance, gentle exercise, seated exercises etc. which my daughter enjoys doing. Most of them are American but the pace and content is good. Another possibility might be VirtualVillageHall (fb group - not sure if it is limited geographically). Hope this helps.

Good morning Dalfie2020

The Innovate Trust run an app called Insight which is worth checking out for online activities. They have made a YouTube video which explains what is on offer far better than I can in a short sentence: youtube.com/watch?v=cUD5Otq...

Although the app was set up initially for people supported by Innovate in the South Wales area, they have opened up the platform to anyone who may benefit and have groups from around the UK now joining and adding activities.
