Hallo everyone, I am new here. I am big sister to a man now in his 60s with life-long learning and physical disabilities. I am planning to write about our lives growing up and now growing old together. I will keep you informed about how it goes!

Hallo, big sister here!
I thought you meant you will post here - look forward to
Oh, maybe I will do both! Would you like to read some of it as I write? I would love some feedback!
Welcome Ruasmammy , I'm a sibling too. Your writing project sounds great - will you publish it as a book/a blog/on social? All the best with it Fx
Pleased to meet you, big sister!! I hope to publish it as a book, but it will take a while to write as I want to do it right. I have registered for an Open University Course on memoir and the course work is to write a memoir. I have quite a lot written already, but a lot of work to do, including research. My brother is 64 now, so a lot has changed for folk with disabilities. I also have a lot of research to do, for example on the side effects of drugs he was prescribed from childhood until now. Yesterday I went to visit the now-derelict hospital where he used to go for respite. I will never forget taking him out of there with a broken nose that nobody in the hospital knew about - or cared about, apparently. But it is not all gloom and doom. I would love to keep in touch. And perhaps I will post excerpts on here, as I would love to get some feedback.
I'm so sorry to hear of what you have been through, and yes, so much has changed in 60 years, and I think people forget how bad things have been in the past (and ignore how bad they still are now). Posting excerpts sounds like a really helpful way to get feedback and to raise awareness too. Fx
