My son who is 33 and has autism, would like to play sport, but is not having any luck finding groups that except adults with learning difficulties.

We are based in Warwickshire.

Any ideas would be welcome.

Thanks.

Hi dclcfc and welcome. Do you have a special olympics group within your area? My son attends our local group every Saturday and loves it. They offer a variety of sports and he has made so many friends there. They have the opportunity to represent the group in local competitions and it gives them enjoyment, a sence of belonging and well needed exercise. Best wishes.

Hello dclcfc

Welcome to this community. I have had a look round and there are few groups that might be able to help:

* Inclusive leisure opportunities - warwickdc.gov.uk/info/20810...

* Way Ahead - wayaheaduk.org/activityserv...

* Enrych - enrych.org.uk/what-we-do/en...

* Rugby Gateway club - newdirectionsrugby.org.uk/g...

* Bedworth Disabled Swimming club - bedworthdisabledswimming.co...

* ASA Plus - asaplus.co.uk/ - This groups seems to cover the whole of Warwickshire.

I haven't had any contact with any of these, but would be worth checking with them to see if they are suitable for your son.

I am sorry if some of these are a little way from you - I am not familiar with your area.

The Special Olympics is also a great idea - here is their website - specialolympicsgb.org.uk/ge...

There are also a few more ideas on our Get Active webpage - mencap.org.uk/about-us/our-...

I hope you find something suitable.

cheers

Sarah
