We are Awesome people.

This is such a lonely place to be, but when I read all the posts I see I'm not on my own after all, you are all out there, doing your level best for the person who depends on you.

We are awesome people us carers. 76 years old and still caring for 3 people and 3 homes.

Today, give yourselves a pat on the back and say, I am awesome, I am a carer.

Hello Creamcrackers20

I couldn't agree more. Unpaid carers are massively unappreciated.

I also find it reassuring to know that there are other people who understand what life is like.

Thanks for your kind words 😄😄

Brought a tear to my eye! You're quite right; I think we mostly take our caring roles for granted ourselves. To be reminded like this made me quite emotional. Thanks for that - you're awesome! x

You've just done the same to me, I've now got in my head that song from the film American tale, "somewhere out there beneath the pale moonlight" xxx

No, you're not alone. I'd been caring for someone with ADHD, suspected bipolar condition, and suspected narcissistic personality disorder for more than 20 years. He's been verbally abusing me, blaming me for his situation (narcs are known to do this). He's also financially dependent on me for years. He just started working again; but I still shoulder his rent and food expenses. While I know what having his conditions entail, it can and does get tiring.

It's not easy coping. There were days when I feel like giving up. But they can't "control" their conditions all the time-- medicines or behavioral management don't always work-- and they need help.

But, carers need help, too. Not too many people understand us. Please take care of yourself. I take solace in being able to engage in therapeutic activities like gardening, cooking, baking, pottery, and painting. Lately, I'd been watching movies at least once a week. When I have extra money, I buy myself nice things and good books.

I'm a cancer survivor. I look forward to working full time again, as THAT can be the most therapeutic for me-- keeping myself busy and productive so I don't get depressed.

I wish you laughter, I wish you fun times!
