Raising awareness

There's a member of my community in need of an electric mobility scooter, he has a number of appointments to attend and finds extremely difficult to walk around due to severe pain, he has multiple abscesses and requires transport every so often to hospitals. Mobility is a question. I'm trying to get a grant or raise money or even a donation from a charity organisation. I will be in a position to send more detailed information about this member if we get the appropriated support and help, I mean more evidences can be supplied as requested. Many thanks

Hello ACLangola

Welcome, and thanks for your post. It would be worth giving our helpline a call on phoning 0808 808 1111

or emailing helpline@mencap.org.uk - that will be the best place to share more details.

Make sure you don't share any personal info (names, addresses, phone numbers, or email addresses) here on the online community.

You mention applying for grants, here are a few ideas:

* Turn2us grant search - grants-search.turn2us.org.uk/

* disability-grants.org/

* benevolent funds - these sound like an odd idea but it worth seeing if the person applying for a scooter is eligible for any of these. You can Google it, or there is a good list on here -

carers.org/article/benevole...

* independenceathome.org.uk/h... and dtdcharity.com/ and mobilitytrust.org.uk/apply-... all seem to provide grants in some circumstances

I really hope this helps. Please let us know how you get on.

Thanks

Sarah
