hey everyone- not really sure how this works but I’m a 40 y/o lgtbq female whose been diagnosed as bipolar, depression, ptsd, anxiety, etc—- mostly bc I haven’t responded to any of the treatments I’ve received over the past 2 decades.

Currently unemployed in the mental health field. Don’t have much social support. Looking to make connections, get advice on rebuilding your life, etc.

Greetings So It Goes, and welcome to the HU community! I am sorry to hear that you haven't responded to any of the treatments that you've received over the past twenty years, but I am excited to hear that you are motivated to rebuild your life. I mainly use HU as a source of inspiration, and the private message function is good for more personal conversations. The amount of responses and support that posts get seems somewhat random and fickle, with some posts not getting much support, and others receiving a multitude of responses. But what I truly enjoy about HU is the positive community. Most of us have struggled, and are still struggling, but this is a place of love and support for all. What do you want your rebuilt life to look like?

Hi again. Welcome to the community you found your people your tribe so to speak that no exactly how you feel when you say you're depressed and you have major depressive disorder or bipolar or any other mental illness. Many people here are so helpful with their advice so you will find a lot of support here as I have and all you need to do is post and it will get feedback from the group. There's another group on here called anxiety and depression and you get to it from the my hub section the bottom of the page and you can join there too I'm a member and I find both of these groups helpful. I also became unemployed last year and I lost my state job due to my depression and then I lost my home and now I'm in my sister's basement so the only place to go is up from here cuz last year brought me to my knees. My husband and I will be moving down to Florida in September however and it's both exciting and scary leaving everyone and everything behind here in New Jersey but it's only a 3-hour plane ride away so almost likely come up once a year in the fall to see the foliage which I will miss living in Florida. We do have family and friends down in Florida too to help with our transition to go smoother and to have supports there for us. I usually Journal quite often to get my feelings out have you ever done that it's very helpful cuz you feel a release after you've gotten all of that off your chest so to speak. I also do meditation and slow breathing exercises as well to come myself when I'm feeling anxious. I hope these little tidbits help you and feel free to reach out to me anytime chat and I hope you like this community as much as I do. Wishing you peace and well-being talk to you soon.

Thank you again. All the feed back and encouragement I’ve gotten have really is opening my eyes to how important it is to connect with other people who are struggling with similar battles and how important of a role it plays in getting healthier.

Yes there are so many caring and thoughtful people here on this forum that can give you insightful suggestions that can help you feel better immediately. Just getting replies to your post in a sense makes you know that people really do care about what you're going through and the people that suffer with major depressive disorder like we both do know exactly how we feel and how to help us the most. Although I have family that tries to be helpful and a husband who is super supportive they try their best to understand the darkness that I've been in but can't identify as well as those who have experienced it themselves. What are some of the things that you have done that you have found helpful maybe your suggestions could help me too.

well said! I can definitely give some suggestions if you let me know what you want to focus on (symptoms wise). I have symptoms of depression, mania, general and social anxiety, and ptsd so I’ve tried different stuff for different disorders- although there is no go to cookie cutter strategies based on a label- they always said to treat the symptoms not the diagnosis.

Sorry completely rambling… just got some potentially awesome news and kinda flying high on that
