Is it possible to become so depressed that you lose physical energy?

Absolutely. Depression sucks positivity and energy from you even if you are doing nothing. The hard part of this is combating that lack of energy. The lack of energy is the depression. You may feel tired and lethargic, but do anything you can to get a little bit of movement. It can be as simple as finding a spot to sit outside and listen to music, listen to the environment, read a book, whatever you can muster. It can be moving to a different location in your home and just focusing on sitting upright instead of lying down. I've found when I'm in the worst of it, just changing my environment can help me find a bit more energy to get through the day. Taking a shower even, just to rinse off the feeling of being tired. You don't need to walk for miles to find the energy hidden by the depression. Just try something small. And listen to your body. Sometimes, you really do just need a break. So take a nap. Do something small. But think of it as recharging so you can have the energy you may need later. 💗

Yes, depression steals our energy. KittenMama said it all and her suggestions are good. I wonder if you are seeing a therapist? I hope so because you need that kind of support. Joining a group can be helpful because you realize that you're not alone. So many of us are struggling to find ways to lift ourselves up. There are times I have to push myself to attend social gatherings, or make myself go to the pool. Exercising helps me so much. Keep a daily journal in which you vent your feelings without judging them. I'm glad you've found this place to share your feelings, we understand and want the best for you. 🥰

I journaled for over 10 years until recently. It’s become too painful. It really looks like it’s the end of my life’s road, but people and God, in His ways, tell me it’s not. I wish I could understand.

100%. It’s also a physical disease. Look up Avolition. It explains your exactly what you are going through. Nobody ever told me u til years into my living in hell that it’s not me being lazy or incompetent. It’s actually part of the horrific disease. I hope you find relief soon.

Definitely. That is a common symptom of pretty severe depression. Are you seeing a psychiatrist or other mental health worker? Are you on any anti-depressants? Certain anti-ddepressants like Wellbutrin are known to be energizing for people in a situation like yours. You probably should be on one of those, at least be seing a mental health professional if you are this depresssed.
