Today was really hot. And here in the UK we have not had a general improvement in weather and easing into summer conditions. No no. We jumped from Winter to Summer. I'm sure we can get some sympathy from Decker as I've heard it said in Canada they have 2 seasons: winter and roadworks π€£
We had a HU actual RB meet up at the Cheltenham Running Festival held at the racecourse. Shake-and-run had picked up a niggle so changed from the planned 10k to a 5k. I think we may have been a touch envious as the rest of us Sandie1961 cheekychipmunks TailChaser and myself hauled ourselves around for a 2nd circuit! I was definitely dousing myself with water more than I was drinking it. We all deserved that bling! And post race prosecco π₯
Haven't got our chip times yet but Strava reckoned I did 10k in 48m33s with a 'relative effort' of 151. But the best of it was all the smiles and runner's camaraderie. π€£ It always feels better AFTER the race π
More real racing please!

Sounds just great Katnap. Yes I can certainly sympathize. Itβs been so hot today and no rain in sight. You really earned your bling today. Huge congrats to everyone out there. Hereβs to real races !ππ
Well done you lovely lot. Sorry we werenβt able to join you today, but we were quite relieved to not be running in 30C. That bling should take pride of place.
Congratulations to you Katnap for running in the heat and a sub 50 minutes 10K in those conditions makes it more enjoyable, you deserve that lovely medal π₯ π₯π
Wasnβt it fun Katnap? I was definitely a whole 10 minutes plus slower than I expected, but I was 7 minutes faster than my scorching Severn Bridge 10k in 2019! Iβm happy with our efforts. HUers are clearly hardcore (or bonkers!) π
Thanks Dexy. It was much more undulating than Kempton. No steep hills, but each lap had at least 3 longish inclines which were fine over one lap, but brutal for two, especially as the temperature was rising and the wind was dropping. Itβs in a beautiful setting. π
Brilliantly done!! ππͺπππ It's great to see actual events happening again, my friend did a half marathon near here on Sunday yay π very well done you and everyone racing this weekend in the UK, we've really gone from winter to summer overnight π₯΅π₯΅
Reduced numbers, baking hot, 6 minutes slower than my worst anticipated time, but do I care? Nope! Fantastic meet up and such a joy to be back with other runners doing a real race πππ
And you had a heart rate that I didn't feel envious of! However, my relative effort was vastly superior to yours π , thanks partly to my watch getting upset from getting wet (either from sweat or water) was 234 π± as was my heart rate: it only went as high as 190 apparently, a little less than when I started (not)parkrun on Saturday morning (203)... just as well I don't believe it or I wouldn't have left the house all weekend!
