So my new Aonijie hydration vest came in the post and it was time to try again.
I had a plan for the first 15/16k then after that just to make it up as i went along .
I used a route i quite like even though there are a few hilly bits and ran it twice then ran twice round the running track then back out on to the street which took me near to where I stay but I still had a few km's to go , so just kept going.
I had a couple of gels one with caffeine and it worked out okay and I had 2/ 250ml water bottles .
The weather was quite wet at first and a bit windy , the rain stopped but the wind remained but not too strong.
Got home did quite a few stretches , more water and drank a chocolate milk from a company called ' For Goodness Shakes' and it was quite nice.
Did I enjoy it , yes. Am I tired yes . But that feeling of achievement is just brilliant.
So 13 more miles towards LEJOG.
Also got a HM pb of 2.19 and 21 seconds

You are epic!! What a way to start the week....boom π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯ Two new PB's including a HM PB too, you must be absolutely thrilled now it's over. Really, really pleased for you. Hope you found running in the vest ok.
Fantastic run which must give you confidence that you are doing all of the right things. It's such a tremendous distance and now you've done it twice, and faster π₯πππ
Thanks GTFC. The vest was brilliant. Within minutes I forgot it was even there. I honestly wasn't trying to go faster as the longer distance can really tire you out. Now for a dog walk to keep the legs moving πββοΈπΆββοΈπ
So glad you liked it. Awesome run today and gives you a great start into the week. I run with it most times actually as it fits my phone and water (even if I don't need any) and it's not heavy on my tummy like a belt. I'm going for a 5 miler in half an hour and it's monsoon conditions out there π§π§π§β€.
Thanks. I had one of those running belts and it had room for 2 bottles . Nothing wrong with it as such just kept jumping up and down. The vest is brilliant with the 2 collapsible bottlesππ
Amazing Buddy, that's brilliant and to get a PB too, fantastic. Huge congratulations. I can only dream of completing that distance in that time, phenomenal.
Sorry to butt in on your post but would you mind letting me know which hydration vest you got? I have just made it to 10 miles so got one which I used for the first time on Saturday. It only has 1 pocket for a 500ml bottle on the front (and a bladder on the back - but don't think I need that) and it felt a little lopsided sometimes. Mainly at the beginning of the run, I did forget I was wearing it after a while so it's not a problem but just wondered what other people use.
Amazing, thank you so much GTFC. It's very similar to mine but not quite the same. I think I'll try mine a couple more times and maybe consider getting this one instead if I still can't get on with it properly.
Iβve got that one in pink. I wore it yesters for my 25k. I only took one 250 ml bottle which was a bit silly in hindsight The bright pink is high viz which is a positive π
The option with side cubbies is the one I really wanted but it only comes in black, with either red or green trim I think Iβll to buy it though. It also has an extra pocket in front of each bottle holder 2 l bladder too I think. Room for poles too which I cd have done with for bashing down brambles and nettles π
Thank you so much Buddy, that's really helpful. My vest is also an Aonijie but it takes a 500ml bottle in a pocket at the front, the pockets on the other side aren't big enough to fit a second bottle in so yours does look like a slightly better design. The bottle that came with my vest is the same as the soft one you bought, just the bigger size. I'll try it a couple more times and then make a decision I think, I can always use it for walks if I end up 'retiring' it for running.
Thank you for replying and huge congratulations again
Thanks Linda. I just got the vest and the bottles so I don't know any different as I haven't tried a bladder. The bottles you just bite on to release the water π
I was just curious if maybe the vest sits better with bottles rather than bounce. My bladder has a bite valve too - it would make bottles easier too I imagine.
Thank you. When i started running I never thought I'd manage to run 30 minutes or 10k , 10 miles ,HM. But with perseverance and the brilliant supporters on this forum I finally believed I could do it. I just doubted myself far to often π€
You are doing so well, with you saying that you did not think you could run for 30 minutes, a 5K, 10K, 10 miles or HM, do you think that you might be able to run a full marathon in the future? that would be the ultimate goal for many runners, they say it's a beast compared to a HM but you never know.
I hope to run another 10 miles sometime this Autumn , IF and it's a big IF I am in the mood, irrespective of the shoes I wear that day I might continue for another 5K, that would be a Half Marathon, it is a big IF, maybe.
Good luck for you continuing to run 10K's, 10 miles and Half Marathons, you will get to John O' Groats well within a year with the end to end LeJog4 challenge you are doing + walking Buddy your dog.
I did not get a walk with Holly today as I had to go back into Glasgow to get another running belt, the first one in the morning was a size too small for me, when I put it on I almost choked as it was so tight, the second one is perfect.
Yes, first time in Glasgow for 6 months then twice on the same day, coming back in the afternoon I got a very fast electric train, that also was the first time I had been on a train for 6 months, it only takes 11 minutes from Queen Street High Level to Croy, then I have a walk home, although today I got a bus part of the way.
Whoop whoop, fantastic job Buddy and still speedy, even at that long distance ππ...I agree with you, a Full Marathon just seems a step too far π
I was out running in my Aonijii too π. I got my light hooded jacket over it too as it was raining at times. I donβt mind getting wet but I had to hike at times and you get the chills quite quickly once you stop running I tied it round my waist when not wearing it
One thing I noticed with the Aonijii was that I had the back main pocket undone and it stuck out making me look like a hunchback. I thought Iβd have to take it off again to close it No ! The zip has a decent length puller on it so it was easy to do π
Thanks. I hate when something is annoying me on the run and the belt with the 2 bottles I used for my first HM just kept moving around , it was very distracting. But this vest is brilliant ππ
You donβt know youβre wearing it. It was ok with my jacket over it too.
I think Iβll have to get the one with side cubbies and the extra storage in front of the bottle holders. Only male colours though despite being Small size π€·ββοΈπͺ. I like a bright colour as itβs easier to be seen by traffic or tractors π
