A new hip 😆😆😆! (But I've been v. good so far so Santa's bringing me some new shoes as well). More time to run would be lovely as well. Roll on retirement...

My husband had a stroke many years ago and can't manage shopping, so I have to buy what I want and then tell him what he is giving me 😂. This year it's a Garmin Venu 2, but there might also be a reflective Proviz gilet and Bam leggings in my stocking (if I can roll them up small enough!)

roseabi profile image
roseabiUltramarathon in reply toKalessin

May I suggest a bigger stocking? 😊😊😊

Kalessin profile image
KalessinHalf Marathon in reply toroseabi

My mum made my stocking for me when I was about six years old, so I'm stuck with it I'm afraid. Of course it sometimes has to have a back-up container....

Ah, good plan! xxx

We still have stockings ( at 71 and 75 respectively. still have stockings).BUT we have on gift bag each too... for the bigger gifts !

Yeah, I really must get up and go and work out!!! 😂😂🎁

New shoes for at the coast. I have just got new shoes at home, but would like the same ones to replace my elder ones at the coast. Then I can use those elder ones for on the treadmill.

It seems every Christmas new shoes are on the list. Can’t believe that after 3 years of running most things I wish for are running related! When I started I remember someone saying it’s a cheap sport! 😂😂 But I’m not complaining. It keeps me healthy and that’s the best present to myself ever. Happy Christmas everyone. X

Definitely need a couple of new winter running tops! I keep thinking I want a watch, but then get so confused and unsure about what will work for me, too much choice and too many functions so I always back away! Other non-material wish for Christmas (and beyond) is to remain motivated and injury free!!

Dexy5 profile image

I have a basic Garmin Forerunner 35 and it does everything I need. There are others with bells and whistles but they’d be wasted on me. I wouldn’t be without it now.

Me too. Mine was second hand but I’m relieved to say the battery lasted for my marathon 😮‍💨

Which reminds me I broke the zip on the big back pocket of my fave winter Ronhills yesterday, stuffing tackle carelessly in there yesterday 🙄

Getting the sewing tin out now!

I’ve got an ultra next year, and have a whole list of kit I must carry. Therefore my list consists of, vest, waterproof coat, dry bags, head torch, spare torch and cup!

Cmoi profile image
CmoiMarathon in reply toNikasa777

Sounds similar to my maratrail Nikasa777 . That also required a basic first aid kit and a whistle - happily my bargain Decathlon trail hydration vest included the latter, though I only realised that about three days before the race!

It also only dawned on me at the first feeding station that my folding trail running cup from Decathlon was not only super lightweight, but also super floppy and would not stand up on its own. Santa might like to bear this in mind.

Thanks Dexy! I'm getting back out there slowly. I haven't been to a physio - just regular sports massage when I can - instead I ran a half marathon on a sore hip/quad and accepted I would have to pay the price for a while afterwards 🙈🤷‍♀️🙃

Feed stations were a highlight of my maratrail. Sausage? Pizza? Cake? You got it! Plus craft beer and a picnic bag at the finish.

roseabi profile image
roseabiUltramarathon in reply toCmoi

I'm SO signing up for that!!! 😂

misswobble profile image
misswobbleMarathon in reply toCmoi

I was really good on my marathon. I swerved on the divine choc brownies, Jaffa cakes, etc etc. Even at the end when I was handed two, I gave them to the kids. I didn’t get dare get started in on them.

I took my own home made power bars, Tailwind, 2 bags of hula hoops, and ONE emergency break-glass situation GEL 😝

I was conscious of overloading my stomach 😁. Pizza on a long run sounds awesome. I imagine folding it up and cramming it in at about 20 miles 😁. Ooooooh weeeeeeh 😋

Frenc profile image

Hello roseabi! Well, a long sleeve hi vis top would be nice, nothing too complicated 😊. It’s a shame as there are so many gorgeous jackets around, but I’m just not a jacket type of gal. Even when it’s freezing, a long sleeve top is about as covered as I get! Oooh and a new roller. And some new Ons, I just like how they look 🤣. I’m getting greedy now!

But honestly, just to keep injury free with a dose of magic mojo on dark mornings would be brilliant too. 😊😊😊

roseabi profile image

I got Ons last Christmas. Nikes on this year’s. Ye Olde model so cheap 🙂

Frenc profile image
FrencHalf Marathon in reply tomisswobble

Hello MW! I just really like the look of Ons, which is not a scientific way whatsoever of purchasing new running shoes. I got some new Nike ZoomX Invisible Flyknits fairly recently and they are pretty amazing, especially on shorter runs, so bouncy. I hope Father Christmas brings your new Nikes! 🎄🎄🎄

misswobble profile image
misswobbleMarathon in reply toFrenc

Invincible d’yer mean? If so, I want me a pair. They sound just like my thing - if they’re not heavy . Been hanging my nose over them for a while.

The Nikes I’ve asked for are only £50 They’re awesome so I hope I get them OH bought me the last pair but I killed them on my tough half marathon so he bought me some Saucony Speeds for my marathon. Dunno what I’d do without him 😇🙏.

The Ons I’ve got are Cloudsurfers. They were the only model the guy said suited my gait. They need breaking in as they’re firm. I don’t run long in them. 8 - 12k tops. They are absolutely beautiful 😍 Good on uphills as you get a hood toe-off. They get debris and stones stuck in the soles all the while 😤. I have to wear thin run socks in them as they’re not the roomiest. Short laces and tongue. The tongue is like chamois. Very posh 🙂. Ons are on sale at the mo!

Frenc profile image
FrencHalf Marathon in reply tomisswobble

Lol yes invincible! I seem to be having trouble with my wording today 🤣. Now a chamois tongue does sound incredibly posh, I have to imagine it’s really soft which would be great on the top of my right foot as I get niggles there from time to time. I’ll definitely have a look at the Ons next time I need shoes, they sound as though they’ve done you proud. I just daren’t bring any more trainers into the house at the moment 🤣.

roseabi profile image

misswobble profile image

I’d really like a running jacket, not a waterproof one, just a zip up jacket. I’d like a thinner top layer as I get too hot in my sweatshirts. I’d also like some long leggings as my ankles are getting cold in my cropped ones 😂 Perhaps in the sales. My second choice would be toiletries, which I’m much more likely to get. My favourite is the Body Shop Satsuma shower gel for my post run shower. It’s a real treat 😊

roseabi profile image

Oldfloss profile image

Well! I cannot lie, I bought new running gear in the past few sales. Thermal running leggings and top ! I would like a new pair of road shoes.., only got one pair of those.

But really, what I would love is just to feel strong enough to get back to my running routine. I know I bang on about slow and steady, but gosh, to be able to complete a 1K at the kind of speed I reached in the Spring Speed Challenge of two years ago ... ( sigh).

Oh well , maybe I will just ask for a new snail shell :) x
