OK then, have you entered the London Marathon 2021 ballot? π Tell us why or why not!
Please select one:
Since they sent me about 10 emails it seemed rude not to! π Anyway, it's fun πππ
I already have a place carried over from the 2020 race
I had just completed the Virtual One, I didn't know what I was doing
Coz at the moment I can barely run for 30 minutes! Never say never though...
Naw, there's so many other places I'd want to run over London. I get anxiety just thinking about being within the bounds of the M25! π€£π€£ If I ever feel the need to enter an event I'd pick one with hills and better views ππ»π
Yes, yes, yes! I want to run a marathon with some training behind me!!! Not sure I really want to run a big city event to be honest - something small and local would probably suit me better - but I'd definitely give it go if I got a place.
If you'd told me I'd write that 8 weeks ago, I'd have laughed at you and not believed it for one minute. How things change ...
I didnβt even know it was open π I guess Iβll be waiting until 2022 then! At least it gives me time to train lol
The 2022 ballot will open on October 3rd 2021 for five days. If you do Facebook you could 'like' the London Marathon page to get news about it!
Thank you, Iβll do that. I might quickly research other races for next year just to see if there are any I can still get into
There are very few marathons listed for next year at the moment. Not sure if it's always like that (never looked before) or whether everyone's hanging fire because of Covid
I did run it this year with my friend although I was not signed up for it. I too got several emails but didn't do the ballot this year. Reasons why.......I'm not sure if it will go ahead next year in London. I also have huge anxiety in large crowds. I did the London big half but that was nothing in comparison to the 45000 at the London marathon.
I decided to use my deferred place following the virtual for 2022. Itβs a few days before my 65th birthday which felt like a milestone. But also training during the summer I found tough! I may regret it if another deferral takes place!! Despite enjoying my virtual Marathon Iβd love to run in London xx
Because the 2018 race didn't let me show what I was capable of. And it's a great day out.
Because my work colleague who runs told me to!π€£ I am probably the only person who is praying they donβt get picked! Iβm thinking along the lines itβs highly unlikely I will get in, but if I do Iβll give it my best shot π
No - apart from the fact that I've only just cracked 10 miles, logistics are way too complicated!
Yes, that is true!
I live in rural France, so even in non-Covid, non-Brexit times I'd have to factor in travel and accommodation, as well as fit in everything around husband, dog and my teaching timetable!
Also, while I love the idea of taking part in such an iconic event as the London marathon, I'm not actually wild about London itself, I've never run with anyone else, and after 14.5 years of living in the back of beyond, I'm very out of practice at coping with cities.
Received the email and thought ...why not have a go
Have always wanted to do a marathon but never fit enough to do one. However since Jan been getting better and so far up to 13kms. Whether I get innor not my aim is to still do a marathon on October 3rd .
Yes - a moment of madness π€¦π»ββοΈπ¬π³π±
More in hope than expectation π I might live to regret it if I get a place! π
Perhaps when it becomes a two day event.ππ€£π€£

No, I can't justify the time required to train properly for a full marathon.
Also, too worried about "doing a Paula Radcliffe", and I don't mean winning it.
I did apply with a firm expectation of being unsuccessful. I have always admired from afar and I feel that from an ability perspective I have never been in a better position to actually be able to complete it.
I just completed my first HM and after running for 2.5 hours think I have found my limit - the idea of running for at least twice as long is more than I think I aspire to, or would want to do. Now 10ks and maybe even 10 miles feel much more achievable (and even fun!) than I even would have thought!
No, no, no, no, π±, no, π«, no, eerrrrmmmmm, maybe? π€¦ββοΈπ€·ββοΈ

Well, if things go as planned, I'll be busy training for an ironman.
Oh blimey. Yes. Yes, I did. Yes, I too had a billion and one emails...I just canβt help myself. And you lot are so flippinβ inspiring what else could I do?!
No. I donβt want to invest the time training atm. Note the βatmβ ππ³ While I think it would be an amazing atmosphere the thought of hanging around waiting for over an hour in the starting line puts me off big time.
No interest in running in big cities ever.
Nah, not for me the bright lights. Cleethorpes in November's lovely ππ₯ΆβοΈπ§βοΈπ«ππ¨π¬π¦
I entered for this yearβs and didnβt get in, and Iβve since realised Iβm quite relieved! Having run HM distance a few times now, Iβve admitted to myself that 13.1 miles is absolutely plenty for me thank you very much. π€£
I've applied. π€ Fingers crossed I get a place and that it's a normal event. Not sure a virtual LM would be quite the same some how, and after reading about that woman who's LM app had GPS issues and caused her to run 50 miles by mistake really makes me nervous about virtual runs π€£
Anyone know when the ballot results are out?
it was my birthday for the 2020 version and I thought ok why not.
I have done a couple of 30k runs (solo), can't imagine going the full marathon distance, yet.
