I voted speed challenge, because it's such good motivation to make the effort to up my 5k result! Distance for me is constrained by time, alas πŸ˜”

Those who can't stand hot weather look away now. I'm doing my summer routine of weeks in blazing sunshine and that's where Croatian coast fits the bill. Not a cloud, a hint of wind or temperatures dropping below 32-34c for over two weeks with high humidity, is my idea of freedom and fun. (I know, l know.....) So, my challenge will be endurance (clearly, lol). Last year l nearly fainted after my first run but now l know how to tackle it better (don't run for the first two days until you've got used to the elements). Distance challenge will be a no-no but l tend to run my 5K better than in London (no idea why). Will let you know should anything funny happens, don't worry.

Good luck with that - does going out at dawn help at all?

Tried that a few years back. Hot sticky nights mean not so much sleep so early morning runs are challenging. I go vampire way instead. Although it's still manic hot when the sun sets, at least it's not hitting me at full blast. You know what, beer never tastes better after such runs.

Sounds like a good plan...don't like beer, but a chilled white wine wouldn't go amiss 😎, yeah I know, good old water too 🌻

Yep. They love their spritzers and l easily succumb to local culture anyway.

Distance, speed not that great an option where I am, too many hills and broken pavements 🀣

If it is going to be hot, short fast runs look tempting. Plus doing my own distance training with the HM training :)

I've voted distance as that would suit me best for my marathon training. If it ends up as speed I'll belt the last km of parkrun 🀣

My HM programme has me running so slow that speed challenge would be a bit of a non starter. It's mostly endurance pace with a teeny bit at goal pace πŸ€”

I wanted to vote for both...🀣🀣🀣

Surely distance...... this is a long distance forum πŸ˜‚

I voted speed because I'm almost at my target distance and starting to try and speed up.

OK, I've now seen what the distance challenge is and I think I can work with that.
