I've entered the Brighton Marathon already, am also in the London ballot, and I'm hoping to do The Grand Tour of Skiddaw ultramarathon π

The Grand Tour of Skiddaw looks amazing! I love the Lake District and always wish Iβd been a fell runner. Have had a few little βbitsβ of runs over the years. Thinking of doing the Whinlatter 10K when Iβm up there in a couple of weeks.
Have you done Skiddaw before?
π
Yes! When I was in my early 20s my boyfriend and I would go fell walking in the Lake District as often as we could. Our favourite plan was to get the bus from Preston (where we lived) all the way to Keswick, and then walk all our camping stuff to a campsite I can't remember the name of now π From there we would walk up Skiddaw. I remember one day in particular when we went up through hill fog which parted just as we reached the summit to give a glorious view of Keswick and Derwentwater in the sunny valley below.
When I found out about the Grand Tour I thought that's for me!! πππ
The Whinlatter 10K looks fabulous too - do it!!! xxx
I thought Iβd posted this reply but canβt see it so here goes again! Sorry if it duplicates.
Got to persuade hubby itβs a good idea too. Heβs not a runner but is usually very supportive. I think you can enter on the day so might wait to check weather first π. We are only up for a few days this time. If youβre still in Preston you could get the bus across and join me π π€£
Your foggy trip up Skiddaw sounds glorious. If you get the weather breaks in the lakes the views from the tops are just stunning arenβt they. We are trying to bag all the wainwright fells (316 I think). My husband is nearly finished as he goes there with friends too but Iβm not too far behind.
I think I might put that Grand Tour on my bucket list - maybe for next year π but Iβll see how the rest of this year pans out first. Iβve always fancied an Uktra but yet to do my first HM π€£ (Octoberππ»).
Thanks for posting a great Poll. Love all your posts. Might even see you on Skiddaw next August π€ͺππ½ββοΈπββοΈ
I didn't enter the ballot for London. Thinking of a trail marathon which perhaps is better for me. Less time pressure and worrying about what is around me.
We will see
*just realised I typed trial not trail, whoops
I'd love to do another HM but have to persuade Mr L-L it wouldn't kill me.
As I now cycle with Mr L-L weekly, I'd like to improve that and maybe do a duathlon or a team duathlon (I run, he cycles). It is important not to neglect our spouses in our pursuit of goals.
I so agree! (I often forego a run when it would get in the way of a walk with Mr GM)
Your a star Abi.πππ
Working my way to some fitness.π
Going to concentrate on Pete Magill stuff, Fast 800 stuff, Get Fit in 6mins Stuff, all with a view to improve my pace.
Going to put distance and continuous stuff aside at present and follow the guide rules and in particular Pete Magill findings.
Keep your stuff coming Abi.

I have entered the ballot for London, maybe interested in the Brighton or new forest marathons. Would like to do some other half marathons and perhaps improve my 10k time to sub 60 (PB 61 currently).
Am going to be doing the Bath Half Marathon!
Have entered Hedgehog Half, do hope I make it this time round, also in the London Ballot
Iβve entered the ballot for the VLM and Iβve been in touch with Thrombosis UK about raising money for them. If I donβt get a ballot place Iβll probably do the Shakespeare Half or Full marathon for them depending on how the training goes. Iβm sure I can do a half (going to do it some time in the next couple of months) but doing a full is a whole different prospect and it may be the only one I ever do! Iβve wanted to do the VLM since I was 16 and itβs now or never I think!!!
I will carry on, alone, hamster-like, running 20K plus runs around London landmarks dressed up like an NBA billboard, listening to rock's finest. Same old, same ol'.......
Me too, only by then will be 20 milers around the Downs and surrounding villages, scaring the locals π€£ and the sheep! ππ
I have entered the London ballot but the next week after entering my physio and doc have recommended I take a break from HM for a couple of years, my body needs more time to heal with all the changes over the last couple of years, so if I donβt get in London Iβm going for really working on speed of my 10km.
I haven't even completed C25K yet and I've entered the ballot for the London Marathon... I'm not very lucky at these things. I've entered before on numerous occasions without success.
So I'm hoping that because i'm so ridiculously unfit and ill prepared, I might actually get in this time.
Planning my first half marathon this year September 29th (Glasgow half marathon), if all goes well next year I will be running more half marathons and may be in 2021 I'll try my first marathon.
As it's my 50th next year I'm hoping to try a marathon some time that year (I think!!)ππ
Cool!!! I am planning my ultra with being 50 in mind - although my big birthday is actually THIS year, I should still be 50 (just) for the event πππ
How can we be 50 already??! seems funny to think of it! Good plan roseabi xxx
I know! Perhaps we've made a mistake? π
Oh to be 50 again roseabi and aliboo70 ! At 58 I've recently seen the silver lining in reaching my 60th - moving up an age category - and am almost looking forward to it It'll be nice to be young in category for a while (I need all the help I can get when it comes to placings :D)
I'm definitely looking forward to my new age category πππ
I am looking forward to move up to the 70 category...next year
58...oh so long ago!!!
Haha, it's all relative isn't it. You certainly don't let age define you
I don't mind getting old, I just never thought it would happen lol. Problem now is that I don't know what to do with myself (except for running
It's a funny old world really
More halfs for me hopefully. Will enter the ballot for llhm as that was fab. No desire to try a marathon - other than the Chester metric marathon (26.2k) which I will try to get a place at next year π.
Hoping to run half marathon distance this year but probably won't enter a race until next year
I'm doing my first one this year end of June the Compton Verney Half Marathon and plan to do it again next year and maybe add a second one. Slowly does it.
I'm not likely to run expensive organised events too often, the costs all add up. Running is freedom for me, so I'll be doing DIY HMs and marathons mostly from now on. I have my eye on an ultra too - when it feels right...
Apparently I'm doing Brentwood half marathon in March. It's not totally unexpected, we did loosely talk about it, but my friend went ahead and booked me a charity place so it looks like it's definitely on! I would not normally plan that far in advance, can barely plan what to have for lunch!
Well I voted that I wasn't thinking that far ahead but I now know I'm hoping to be doing regular (every 4 to 6 weeks) marathons and intend to reach 31 miles before next summer.
