π parkrun volunteers! What's your favourite job? Tell us why! π

I love handing out the finish tokens - some of the expressions on the faces of the runners are priceless! π

Marshal, so I can cheer people on and also watch the faster runners and hopefully pick up some tips! ππ

finish tokens , i love the post race hugsi get lol , and love sharing in peoples PB elation !

Marshalling on the final straight. Lots of good running, just keep going etc

I voted "tailwalker" πΆas the name says walker, the back of the pack would suit me fine, just walking and speaking to the person who was last. π πΆ

I've voted for other as my favourite role is pacer. It gives an opportunity to run slower whilst providing me with a challenge - it's surprisingly hard to run completely even splits whilst coming in 15 secs faster than your bib number! I usually manage to cock it up by running too fast when the wind's behind me π
A very close second would be tailwalker as I usually do this with my son so we get to have a good chat on the way round. When we're running the winter course you also get to see all the runners. A couple of months ago I had the pleasure of seeing GB athlete Adam Clarke as he passed me on his way to running 14:39 in atrocious conditions. It's hard to appreciate how fast these guys run when you see it on TV and I feel amazingly privileged to have seen this whilst volunteering π

I've only done three parkruns as they're a bus ride away and a bit of a faff, so am yet to volunteer - but I will! Perhaps as a pacer? Then I get to do a bit of a run too.
Pacer. Encourages me to slow down, think about my speed and chat to people.

Other - photography capturing the pain running up the hill to finish!
And makes me happy when people post them on social media.
