Has the Olympics inspired you ?
I was actually there, for the whole duration, 18 nights
I took my running kit with me and the only run I did I was an unofficial parkrun (3.2k in 15 mins) along Copacabana Beach started by Dame Kelly Holmes and David Moorcroft. Wednesday saw me do only my 2nd run in 4 weeks and boy was that hard! Still got the DOMS!
Wow John_W ! That mustve been an amazing experience , a parkrun on Copacabana Beach too !
Did you get to the stadium to see Mo and Usain Bolt run ? xxx
Ummm .... errr ..... yeah
that's an interview with me shortly after the selfie was taken and I'm in the red polo shirt int he photo
OMG !!!! What a fantastic photo !!!!
John , you MUST do a post about this with the photo , I would've been absolutely over the moon !
You came across brilliantly in the interview, very professional .
What a truly memorable experience that mustve been . That is just so exciting !!!! xxx
OK, will do Poppy And thank you, that's very kind of you to say so.
There's a few more photos as well
Brilliant ! Oh yes when youre ready , please put a post up about it John, would love to see more pics as well xxx
thats execellent must have been a very special experience. I never knew we had someone famous!
Have only just seen this - how amazing!!! What an incredible experience. Did you do a specific post about it?
Don't have tv licence so didn't see any, therefore no inspiring going on here
I'm definitely in the cake over sporting excellence category and saw very little on TV but there's radio and websites so I knew what was going on without looking for it.
I do think activity for excellence and activity for fitness are quite different things (although I was inspired when I started C25K by stories of the Kenyan runners who run and then go back to bed)
I did see Mo Farah getting up from a fall... that was inspiring. He followed in the falling footsteps of Lasse Viren.
Morning Ju !
I think its made me appreciate just how dedicated and amazing these top flight athletes are ! When you see Mo Farah run 10k in something like 27 minutes , its just mind blowing really isn't it ?
Plus Team GB did brilliantly , and I am really looking forward to the Victory Parade in October ! xxx
I'm not sure "inspired" is the right word - I enjoyed the Olympics immensely (I always do) but I don't think staying up til 3 in the morning every day has done anything for my fitness!
I enjoyed the cycling alot and i watched the triathalon which was fasnating. But none of them made me do any more it, i have been cycling alot more but thats because i got a new bike which i was always going to get. The tri i signed up for ages ago.
But i didnt eat cake, i ate more or less everything else but not much cake.
I already feel I have a good focus on my running goals. I am just inspired by the success of Team GB and the amount of work they put into getting where they are. We all talk about Mo, Jess & Jo but think of Nick Skelton. I first saw him in the late 70's at Hickstead and to think of the come back from his neck injury was a huge achievement.
Loved watching the Olympics from start to finish, well done to all of em!
I didn't watch the Olympics because I was busy discovering - and falling in love with - a new activity: horse-riding.
I'm afraid it has inspired me to buy bright yellow trainers!
