I'm proud of my two marathons definitely and I enjoy parkrun and the odd 10k but the Half is definitely my favourite distance - it's just a shame about the name.

We should rename it?

Thirteen miles doesn't feel like "half" of anything.

10 k's and half marathons, but half marathons shave it.

I'm with old_git - I like 10k but half marathon distance is just a bit more of a challenge, but the training is still manageable!

I've not done a 10k, but I think they sound a bit scary! I say half marathon too - I agree with the other comments.

I'm really not keen on organised events but if I had to chose a general favourite distance to run it would be 10k but only at the weekend when I have plenty of time.....lol.

I can't really say I don't like racing as I haven't done a race or organised event since I started C25K. But I don't fancy it, nor do I think it would be very good for me. However, I'd never say never.

Didn't sign up to this forum for a long time but heard myself say to a marathon runner a little while ago that I did quite fancy maybe running the distance one day. He was valuing the marathons he's run in terms of what you get to see along the way. I can imagine that long distance running alone (or with suitable dog) might be a trickier proposition than without spectators cheering you on or support stops????

I've run 10 mile and a HM with none and very little support from locals. It is far better to race longer distances with good crowds egging us on but not essential of course ,and you just get what you get and have to make the best of it. Hopefully if there is a nice view the time gets chewed up quicker ☺
