I once won the "Wettest Paddler Award" in a whitewater river race. Half way down I swapped kayaks with one of my club's junior paddlers because his boat was too small for him and he kept getting cramp. I then had to finish the course in (on?) a junior kayak which was far too small for me so I sat astride the cockpit and dangled my legs over the side. I had to stop and empty the boat before and after every set of rapids. On the final set of rapids I chanced not tipping the water out before I entered themn (the finish line was in sight and I foolishly reckoned I could make it). I crossed the line with the kayak totally submerged. Apparently, all anyone could see was a disembodied head, shoulders and chest, coming through the spray towards them... ;)
