Hello Maltese,

Many people with MD do have problems with 'dry eyes'. The two conditions are not related.

Dry eyes occur when there are not enough tears to keep the front of your eyes lubricated (i.e. the cornea), or the tears that are produced do not spread evenly across your eyes.

You should seek advice from an optometrist or your GP who can prescribe a suitable preparation; drops or gels to relieve the condition.

Headaches again are not directly connected, but the strain put on your eyes due to reduced vision may cause this. I suggest that you discuss this with your GP.

If you would like to discuss further, please call our helpline, 0300 30 30 111; we do have a helpful information booklet on dry eyes which can be sent to you.

Best wishes
