Air Pollution causes AMD study?

I have AMD in one eye. Stable at the moment . I am trying to post on the Health Unlocked Macular Degeneration site. For what it's worth I read in the Guardian yesterday (26/1/21) that "Small increases in air pollution are linked to an increased risk of irreversible sight loss from AMD a large UK study has found." It gave absolutely no details of the study. Does anyone have any info'? fed13

Hi fed13,Thank you for your question. While I have a family history of AMD, I had also wondered whether the dangerous smoke conditions which lasted for weeks on end on the US West coast might have been a contributing factor in my diagnosis this month. In particular, after being exposed to general smoky conditions each summer for several years in a row, those of us who lived in Oregon in the summer of 2020 went through the worst fires in the state’s history. I lived only 8 miles from the Almeda Fire, which devastated the towns of Phoenix and Talent, Oregon. Since these were not the usual woodland fires but destroyed almost 2400 residences and additional businesses, we have since been exposed to the pollutants from all of these burned structures throughout the subsequent cleanup, which still continues...and the fire was September 8th.

Thank you as well to Kevin and spring Ross for their contributions to this post path.
