I take Nutrof, daily for my AMD but am never sure whether it is doing any good; or not.

Vitamin pills
That's the problem, Nobe! Millions of people take millions of pills every day, on the basis it might do some good, which in turn is based on reasonable conclusions drawn from clinical trials. At least you feel you're doing something about it, but there's no way you can prove it one way or the other. Although I'm now thinking that as we eat a pretty varied and selected diet, that I'm probably over-dosing in all departments - so I'm cutting down on the pills - every other day, then every third day so far, with no discernible effect over the past month. But early days ...
As the supplements are meant to slow down the progress of AMD there is no way to tell if they are doing good in an individual case. As rollerboy said a good varied diet is also important and maintaining general fitness. We have to hope for the best and wish for a breakthrough discovery. The formula of your pills seems low in vitamin C but its is easy to buy a cheap additional pill for this.

The optician who first acknowledged my AMD 9 years ago, recommended Nutrof because of the lutein & Zeaxanthine contents: 10 mg & 2 mg respectively is on the Nutrof box supplied by a French supplier (on this poccasion). The box states 180 mg of vitamin c, also - Is that too low?
This is the first time that I have bought from this French company. If the vitamin c content is low, do different suppliers vary the contents or is Nutrof made under license?
I did a quick google and it gave the vitamin C as 85 mg, I think. Maybe there are different versions on the market? The Areds dose is 500mg. It would be easy to take an additional vit c.
I take macushield and get the others individually. Like you I do not know how effective they are.
