Do you mean Macushield?

I think the ingredients have been proven to be beneficial and I find it easier than eating the relevant foods containing same.

The mesozeaxanthin is important, many eye supplements don't have it.

I have never taken any supplements. What is the difference between the original and the gold? also some say 3 a day and others 1 a day. There appears to be a big difference in price according to where you buy. x x

Sorry can't remember. I get whichever is best price at the time.

Hi

My Consultant recommended Macushield Gold several years ago. I have no idea if they work but will keep taking them as anything that I can do to help keep the AMD at bay a while longer I will do.

There are 2 big groups of clinical studies (AREDS and CREST) that have suggested that the carotenoids (orange substances related to vitamin A) such as lutein and zeaxanthin used in these supplements may help slow age related macular degeneration. Various studies have used slightly different formulations, with and without other vitamins and minerals.

So it probably is worth taking a supplement if you can afford it . However it is important to remember that it won't reverse existing damage, it will only slow the rate at which it gets worse.

The pack says take three a day but at their price I can only manage one a day.

Have you looked at MacuSave? I take that, it's one a day and much cheaper. Contains all the carotenoids recommended by AREDS and CREST, but not the extra vitamins, but if you are worried about those you can pick up a cheap multivitamin for a lot less than the price of MacuShield p if you are in the UK the Savers stores have a good selection, some for 99p, and they stock MacuSave

I read the ingredience and Macushield gold have more in them than just Macushield. 3 for 2 at boots. I order on therir web and get them delivered to nearest Boots. Three a day for Macushield Gold. I've take them for three years and there has been no changeso fingers crossed. Specialist said they wont cure it but will help delay it. Its three a day seperatly or together. I take the three together before bed.

Hi Knowledge47 I take 2 to 3 a day, I am sure they have helped my eyesight and any deterioration has been very slow for me, I also have Eyelea injections in my right eye luckily my left eye dried up. My b12 was low so my GP recommended I take that also. I take joint care tabs also. I do forget some days. Try to eat very healthily too lots of blueberries, kale, spinach, eggs, bright coloured fruits and veg.

Hi

My mum has been taking macushield for many years following advice from the hospital. She now has wet amd but had dry for many years so it may have delayed the progression of the disease I'm hoping it is helping her other eye.

I started off getting them in boots 3 for 2 but eventually found them on Amazon so we now have them on subscribe and save so get extra 15% off if 5 items are purchased/arriving at the same time. We now pay around £22 for a box of 90 instead of £38- £45 in boots. I spoke to a lady in the eye clinic who also takes them and her husband is on them too and she also buys them in bulk via Amazon.
