Dear Caddy45,

It is difficult for us to comment, however, one thing to consider is that it is important that for instance you are not using your memory to help you to identify the letters. It is a good idea to request that they test your worst eye first and that you ensure that you are not using your memory to help you to guess the letters.

Please see the below link to our Registration booklet:

Hi. What (if any) treatment are you having & when did your sight problems occur? My consultant was reluctant to register me as VI as he said the Lucentis treatment I was having may reverse the sight loss. He wanted to wait for 6 -12 months before he registered me as VI.

In my humble opinion; my MD also does not list me as limited vision although I have both wet and dry AMD.

The treatments on my wet eye have improved the sight in that eye to some extent and the hope is that we can slow the progress. My dry eye does not warrant injections yet and my vision in that eye is 20/25.

In the US low vision is calculated as 20/60 in the worse eye (my rating) and, "...cannot be corrected to better than 20/200 in your better eye, or if your visual field is 20 degrees or less, ".

This is a two edged sword for us because although we may not meet these classifications-yet- we need help from the government and philanthropic societies in order to function.

I am planning on doing (working) the best I can and if I cannot find or work any job I will take my case in to the appeals process.

I would talk to a caseworker where you are to see if there is anything you can do!

Hope this helps.
